One of the frightening side effects of the global pandemic is the rapid loss of jobs. Not to mention formal dual jobs, even internships are in short supply. Even in such a severe situation, the signing rate of internship and dual-system work of German Education Alliance students this year has reached 75%, including many international car companies such as Audi and Volkswagen as well as famous German manufacturing companies, which shows the strength of German Education Alliance students and the advantages of German Education Alliance projects. For example, Kan Xiangsheng, who has been in Germany for more than a year, recently accepted the olive branch of Audi and signed a dual-system job contract on Thursday. The German Education Union, while the iron is hot, interviewed Kan Xiangsheng, who signed the contract and returned, and asked him to share his experience and joy with us.

Ann: Can you describe how you feel now?

Kan: When I look at the Audi fourth ring on the contract, the first thing that comes to my mind is: Luckily, luckily, I didn't give up! I have joy in my heart, but I dare not rejoice. Think about it and fear, when I almost gave up, there would be no today. I now know what it means to be "humble in victory and gracious in defeat". I did not give up because of discouragement when I was low, and now I can't be proud of a little achievement.

Ann: Can you tell me about your experience? What kind of setback made you almost give up?

Kan: I have had this experience twice. I had heard at home that Germany was almost the most advanced country in machinery and automobiles. I like cars and machinery, so I yearn for Germany and hope to study in Germany in the future. When I was studying in China, my school had a cooperation project with a German school. At that time, I signed up and began to learn German to prepare to come to Germany. But who knows, that project actually died halfway! None of the students in the program can do it. They're learning German for nothing. I was so upset, I was about to give up. While browsing the Internet, I found the German Education Alliance project very accidentally. I signed up for the German Education League with the mentality of treating a dead horse as a living horse. Under the arrangement of the German Education Union, I soon came to Germany. This was the first time I did not give up after suffering a blow, met the German education Union, and achieved the goal of going abroad.

The second time was after coming to Germany, the new coronavirus epidemic swept the world, Germany several times shut down. Companies that would have offered dual jobs have been hit and suspended hiring. Even many established internships have been cancelled because of the need to reduce turnover and contacts. I've sent in tons of applications and nothing. So I was so depressed that I often didn't go to class. The teachers of the German Education Union taught me patiently many times, and I did not rest assured. Fortunately, the German Education Union did not give up on me. At that time, Dr. Wang of the German Education Union had a profound conversation with me. B: Really, the people I want to thank most are Dr. Wang and Ms. Wang Yue, who have always encouraged and helped me. I wouldn't have gotten this job without them, and that's not flattery. That conversation touched me very deeply. I was very moved and rekindled my fighting spirit and hope. According to the guidance of the teachers of the German Education Union, I adjusted my living habits and started applying for jobs again. From the preparation of materials, to the interview, to the internship, to the signing of the contract, the German education Union teachers are closely watching me, pointing out how I should do every step. Finally, today's results were achieved.

Ann: Have you learned anything from your job search?

Kan: There are four points of experience: first, timing; Second, repetition; Third, refining; Fourth, talk more. "Timing" is the time to apply. My personal experience is that it is best to contact the company before delivery, ask when to arrange internship and trial this year, and then apply before this time period. "Repeat" means don't stop contacting a company just because you've already applied to it. Instead, ask or contact the company often, or reapply every once in a while. "Refining" is what I learned in the German Education Union's job search tutorial: to show the strongest oneself in the shortest time, space, the most powerful. "Talk a lot" and take every opportunity to talk to your colleagues during the internship. They will not dislike you for having grammar mistakes, nor will they dislike you for talking too much, and the most afraid is that you can't communicate. Carry a small book (not a mobile phone) with you, write down the words you don't understand, and take them out to review at any time during breaks. This is the method repeatedly told by the German education Union teacher, simple and easy to use. In addition, interview coaching and mock interviews by the German Education Union are very effective.

The lesson I've learned is: Don't miss class. During the interview, the first question that the person in charge of the company asked after reading my materials was: Why are you absent from class? I was so confused. You have to fill your own hole.

Ann: What has been your biggest growth in the last year or so since you arrived in Germany?

Kan: Don't give up easily, don't be confused, identify a path and go on. This is my biggest exercise and growth in this year

Ann: What's your impression of the city you live in and Germany?

Kan: Northeim is a small, quiet and beautiful city, which is great for studying. I've been to a lot of the big cities in Germany: Berlin, Dusseldorf, Hannover, Wolfsburg (where Volkswagen is headquartered), all great and cool! After the epidemic is over, I will also have a salary, and I will travel to other countries in Europe.

Ann: As a senior, do you have any advice or encouragement for the younger students in China who are preparing to come to Germany?

Kan: Learn German well. Spoken language is very important. You can't learn a language without speaking. And more importantly: don't give up when you encounter setbacks! I wish you all can surpass yourself to achieve ideal!
